Spyro wasn’t sure what to make of the little insect at first, and borderline refused to let Sparx follow him around at first. In fact, Sparx is the reason Spyro wasn’t turned into crystal along with the other dragons, he protected him from Gnasty’s magic. Sparx: Sparx is Spyro’s companion dragonfly, and has been with him since just before Spyro’s first adventure. Major Character relationships (Quick side note, Villain relationships will be explored in their own separate posts) Elemental Breath Attacks (With the use of Runes only) Flight (When he was young he could only glide and could only fly in places called Speedways, he could fly in these places due to magic in the portals to them) He can breathe fire, occasionally fireballs. At the time, he only cared about being able to leave Dragon Village without permission, but more on his relationship with Sparx in the “Major Character Relationships” section. He was able to complete these challenges, and was given his companion dragonfly, Sparx. These challenges are simple but can be pretty difficult for a young dragon. For a young dragon to gain their companion dragonfly, they have to complete a set of challenges. His dad was pretty mad when he found out what Spyro had done, but he agreed to give Spyro a chance to gain his companion dragonfly.
So one day he just up and left to go on an adventure. So Spyro was stuck there longer than most, and he was beginning to get antsy. You see, before a young dragon is given their companion dragonfly, they’re not allowed to leave Dragon Village. He was actually given his dragonfly a bit later than what’s customary for young dragons, due to his father figure Nestor being overly protective of him and not wanting him to get hurt. He was given his companion Dragonfly Sparx at a very young age, in fact this was right before Gnasty’s invasion of the dragon realms. He’s also very creative, which is why he chose to be part of the Artisan tribe (along with the fact he didn’t want to be separated from his dad). That being said, he can lose focus very easily, especially when an older dragon is telling him a story or when he has no interest in the manner at hand. But once he starts something, he’ll finish it, obstacles be damned. However, he’s kind of lazy and can be extremely stubborn. He is also very dedicated to his fellow dragons. But he loves his friends and family very deeply, and would do anything for them if they asked it of him. He’s cocky and fearless, believing that no one stands a chance against him if he decides to get involved. He was, and is, a dragon that genuinely cares about helping others, but also cares about the adventure involved. He’s also a member of a rare breed of dragon that occurs at complete random but is incredibly powerful, called Aether Dragons. Spyro is an Artisan dragon, having grown up beside dragons of his own age like Ember after being brought into existence alongside them in Dragon Village.
